Scientific achievements and prizes
• Prof. Fratini was selected and invited to the “2nd JSTP International Seminar on Precision Forging”, organized by Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity, Osaka (Japan), May 2000;
• Prof. Fratini was selected and invited to the European Advanced Summer School “Frontiers for Computational Micromechanics in Industrial and Engineering Materials”, Gallway (Ireland), August 2000.
• Paper award: the paper L. Fratini, S. Beccari, G. Buffa (2005), “Friction stir welding FEM model improvement through inverse thermal characterization”, Trans. of NAMRI/SME, Vol. XXXIII, pp. 259-266, won the Student Contest of XXXIII NAMRC Conference as “Runner up”.
• Prof. Fratini was awarded the F.W. Taylor Medal by the CIRP (2007). The award was given in relation to the paper “Friction Stir Welding of Tailored Blanks: Investigation on Process Feasibility” presented by Prof. Fratini at 56th General Assembly (Kobe, August 2006).
• Prof. Fratini was invited as visiting Professor at LFT – Chair of Manufacturing, University of Erlangen Numberg (Germany), within the cooperation activity of the Vigoni project coordinated by Prof. F. Micari. Period 17-28th Sept. 2007.
• Prof. Fratini won the 2010 AITEM prize for innovation in teaching activities for the development of a remote controlled experiment.

Scientific achievements and prizes
• Prof. Fratini was selected and invited to the “2nd JSTP International Seminar on Precision Forging”, organized by Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity, Osaka (Japan), May 2000;
• Prof. Fratini was selected and invited to the European Advanced Summer School “Frontiers for Computational Micromechanics in Industrial and Engineering Materials”, Gallway (Ireland), August 2000.
• Paper award: the paper L. Fratini, S. Beccari, G. Buffa (2005), “Friction stir welding FEM model improvement through inverse thermal characterization”, Trans. of NAMRI/SME, Vol. XXXIII, pp. 259-266, won the Student Contest of XXXIII NAMRC Conference as “Runner up”.
• Prof. Fratini was awarded the F.W. Taylor Medal by the CIRP (2007). The award was given in relation to the paper “Friction Stir Welding of Tailored Blanks: Investigation on Process Feasibility” presented by Prof. Fratini at 56th General Assembly (Kobe, August 2006).
• Prof. Fratini was invited as visiting Professor at LFT – Chair of Manufacturing, University of Erlangen Numberg (Germany), within the cooperation activity of the Vigoni project coordinated by Prof. F. Micari. Period 17-28th Sept. 2007.
• Prof. Fratini won the 2010 AITEM prize for innovation in teaching activities for the development of a remote controlled experiment.
